Evangelos Mavronas was born in Corfu an island with a great artistic tradition in all arts and especially in post-Byzantine art. He is a follower of this tradition. His contact with hagiography was both experiential and learning. It starts from a very young age close to great teachers reaching up to the Mount Athos monks hagiographers. Today from time to time a select few students study with him.
